Yet another race at this meeting with exaggerated finishing margins - a grand total of 53 lengths - and, as such, a question mark needs to be applied to the value of the form as it stands. That said, there was much to like about the way SHORT DANCE handled the testing conditions, not to mention her willing attitude. Allowed to bowl along in an uncontested lead, she was gradually wound up once in line for home and, one by one, her rivals capitulated. She is a useful filly with give in the ground and this victory proved her ability to stay a mile. She will be aimed at the Irish 1,000 Guineas.

Salut d'Amour, who jumped awkwardly from the stalls and almost unseated her rider, raced towards the rear of the field before making headway early in the straight. She hung right under pressure when going in pursuit of the winner and although she threatened for a while, the writing was on the wall in the closing stages and she was eased late on. She was beaten by a better filly on the day.
