Analyis of the race

Potentially a fair three-year-old handicap, with most of those to have raced this season having shown their form, and it almost certainly took a decent effort for REEM THREE to win as she did, always in touch, leading over 2f out and just pushed out in the final 1f to score readily. She had not looked thrown-in for this handicap debut judged on three previous performances on the all-weather and has clearly improved. She was very good value for her winning margin, should go on again and is just the sort to remain ahead of the handicapper for a while - her trainer has few peers in handling this type of progressive three-year-old.

Quince clearly needs the cheekpieces which were refitted here as he left behind a modest reappearance effort, doing well to get as close as he did having been in rear off the home turn. This ground was probably plenty soft enough for him to and he is well worth keeping in mind back on a sounder surface.

Tears Of A Clown ran a decent race on his turf debut, particularly as he was another far from thrown-in on his first run in a handicap, and this step up in trip seemed in his favour.

Scot Love ran respectably over a trip which may be a maximum for him.

Charlie Tokyo did best of those who had not run previously in 2006 and is well worth keeping an eye on as he travelled nicely until failing to get a clearrun over 1f out. He progressed well for Richard Hannon last season, does not look to have gone backwards for a change of stables judged on this effort and could well be up to repaying some of the 43,000gns he cost at the sales last October with a handicap victory or two this term.

Gracechurch ran respectably but has paid for his winning run with a hike in the weights, while Awatuki was again keen in front and did not last home.[DC]
