Another race that looked on paper as if it would take very little winning. Having said that, one or two of these - most notably Winds Of Change, Woolly Bully and Malech - looked the type to improve from two to three. Drawn nearest the stands' side rail in stall 16, MALECH was switched into the middle of the track and kept covered up until switching back to the stands' side two out and easing into the lead. He is bred for middle distances and is expected to get further in time. The yard's two-year-olds were not right last year and have hit the ground running. He could turn out to be a well handicapped horse who is worth keeping on the right side of.

Morning steamer Woolly Bully posted by far his best effort to date. He clearly has ability and was probably a bit unlucky to come up against the winner. On what he has shown here, his turn must come soon.
