His handler sees him as a Royal Hunt Cup type and he is likely to have one more outing before his attentions are turned to thatstage. He looks to be improving with racing but will have to improve further and take a hike up the weights if he is make the cut for that prestigious handicap.
Surwaki was having only the sixth start of his career and stepped up significantly onhis reappearance effort at Kempton as he stayed on to chase home the winner. He is running at a more reasonable level now and can win races if all remains well with him.
Banjo Patterson was soon tracking the leader and had a chance over a furlong out until fading in the final furlong. He gave the impression that he wasn't entirely happy on the ground and should come on for his first outing since last August.
Trafalgar Square ran well enough without really threatening and Marajaa was another who wasn't disgraced, but the disappointment was Namroc, who never looked happy and was being pushed along from some way out. He is a horse who is probably best when fresh and, despite being on a favourable mark, looks one not to put too much trust in.
