Again the action developed midtrack, with the low-drawn runners who took a wider course coming out on top.
AUWITESWEETHEART ran well first time out last season and repeated the trick here, having looked plenty high enough in the handicap and she did not win again.
Fisberry, dropping back from six, was last to challenge widest out and would have won in another 50 yards, suggesting he can strike again at the longer trip, although he is another who looks plenty high enough in the handicap.
Native Title had to again squeeze through from an unpromising position at halfway but could never land a blow. While he has a higher turf mark than he has been winning off on the all-weather, he has won off even higher and left the impression that success has not been taken away by the handicapper.
Danzig River's run is best forgotten as he was awkward in the stalls and his rider lost his irons and was unable to ride a race.
