NAUTICAL, who tends to get himself behind, was well served by the fanning out ashe got a clear run through, sticking midtrack, and despite edging left towards the other runners he stayed on to grab the spoils. This veteran was another undone by the false start in the Spring Mile, going fully three furlongs before returning. He had won over course and distance before and likes some ease in the ground, so had optimum conditions.
Lake Chini went far side and did well to lead home that group on this drop back in trip, although the fast pace in the ground made it a stiff test.
Gone'N'Dunnett confirmed he is in top order following his all-weather campaign but still has a lower turf mark to exploit and just got found out by the testing conditions in the final furlong. As he handles faster ground as well, he should be winning again sooner rather than later.
Roman Quintet ran as if needing a furlong or so further, as he travelled well through the race near the winner towards the stands' side but could not quicken as instantly as the principals.
Zidane was disappointing, but the change in ground did not look to suit and he failed to quicken in the conditions when asked.
