ISLAND ODYSSEY has done well from two to three and enjoyed this step up in trip as her pedigree suggested she might. Like her jockey's other two winners, she was always in the box seat and when asked to win her race in the last quarter-mile she lengthened takingly and won a shade cosily. She looks the type to keep progressing and should get further as the season progresses.
Brabazon showed more on this sounder surface but having raced on soft ground looked to get a shade outpaced before rallying under strong pressure.
Strategic Mount, sporting blinkers for the first time, finished nicely clear of the rest but ran as if this trip was as far as he wants.
The trip also looked beyond Disco Lights, who weakened into the final two furlongs having been up with the pace.
