This was notable for a very fast pace which slackened around the bottom bend but was soon picked up again into the final three furlongs.

Once again the considerable change in the ground overnight made this less competitive than it might have been and both Zabeel Tower, a doubtful stayer in the conditions, and Ballybeg, whose turf form is on a sounder surface, palpably failed to run to form - albeit not beaten that far.

Both the maiden BOB'S YOUR UNCLE and Night Groove were up against it on official figures but they came nicely clear in the final furlong and a half. Their immediate futures depend on how the handicapper assesses what arguably is much-improved form.
