This second division of the maiden hurdle was taken in a time nine seconds slower than the first so it is very fair to assume it was the weaker of the two legs. NERO WEST had shown a modicum of ability in his two previous attempts but sailed away with this contest when given his head in the straight. The step up to this trip and the soft ground helped him and probably hindered the others but he could no more than win and seems to be going the right way in the context of this event.

Black And Tan was not disgraced on his bumper debut but could muster only the one pace on his first try over hurdles.

Coleraine, another crossing over after just one semi promising attempt in a bumper, will have to come on for this.
