Both principals were theoretically well in here despite carrying 7lb penalties as they have been reassessed even higher for last week's wins and on this display still look just ahead of the official. Roznic, up 8lb for his Folkestone win, did well to win as he was rushed off his feet down the back straight, shown by a dive over four out when at full stretch. He still had five lengths to make up from the second-last, but challenging widest out came home strongly to have the race won in the last 100 yards without shaking off Glengarra, who is due to go up a pound more than the winner.
The Local needed plenty of driving along to maintain his lead by halfway, but he kept responding to still hold a chance into the last before giving best. He was much better than the principals over hurdles and has yet to find that form over fences.
Smart Cavalier was another taken off his feet, but he threatened to take a hand into the last half-mile but could not maintain the effort and laboured home in fourth.
Lord Lington obviously saw the rapid pace coming as he dug in his toes and refused to race.
