Superior jumping proved the key to the success of rank outsider SARAHS QUAY.Sent off 100-1 when landing a qualifier for this series at Sedgefield, she soon broke the ambitions of fellow trailblazer Isellido, despite her rider putting up 1lb overweight, and readily found more after springheeled leaps at the third-last and penultimate fences when challenged by Lizzie Bathwick and De Blanc.

According to her connections, the winner is a quirky customer but takes some pegging back on a going day.

Lizzie Bathwick had the advantage of winning form round this tricky circuit. Not as far out of the handicap as the winner, who confounded her rating, she battled on well but the desperate nature of the conditions surely makes the form suspect.

Motcombe failed to capitalise on some attractive handicapping with De Blanc and Supreme Serenade, compromising her chance with a couple of early mistakes.

Supreme Serenade has yet to show she has the same liking for fences as hurdles and had it all to do with her welter burden in the ground. This was uppermost in the mind of her jockey whodid not persevere when the game was up.
