Gallantry missed the break but he steadily made ground and finished in good style to take the runner-up spot. Itwas the ex-Sir Michael Stoute-trained four-year-old's first run for David Barker and his first since July last year. It was an encouraging effort.
Bobski's jockey lost an iron coming out of the stalls and the gelding lost a rear shoe during the race, so this was a good effort in going under by only two necks. He won his first three races last season and it should not be long before he gets back on the winning trail.
Danzig River was keen early on but kept on well enough under the circumstances. He has not won since 2003, but he keeps on doing enough to suggest he can win one with a bit of luck.
Dark Charm was another who was keen early and had given best over two furlongs out. He is not really firing yet, but this ground may have been a bit quick for him and he is not one to give up on yet.
*Franny Norton reported that Hits Only Money was unsuited by the firm ground.
*Dean McKeown reported that Go Solo hung left in the straight.
