Royal Niece is beginning to put a decent string of efforts together and, although she has yet to score in 12 attempts, there is surely a race for her at a similarly lowly level.
Handicap debutant Bosworth Gypsy towed them along until just before the last, where she was hampered, and she did well to hang on for third in the end. This was only her sixth career start and the likelihood is that there is more to come. Hilarious came with a challenge in the straight, but did not see the three-mile trip out as strongly as the principals. Alderbrook Girl raced sweetly in the first-time visor but, if anything, she may have raced a little too enthusiastically and in the end and she was unable to stick with the leaders. Tinvane Rose was noted travelling strongly from some way out, but she did not find a great deal off the bridle, while the in-form Balmoral Queen was still going well and looked likely to get involved, only to fall at the ninth, bringing down Penny's Crown who herself had not been asked for her effort.
