Analyis of the race

This looked the marginally better of the two divisions and produced an impressive winner in MYSTERY LOT, who put up a winning time over a second faster than Anemix. Subjected to a more aggressive ride on this occasion, she really enjoyed herself out in front and attacked her hurdles with real enthusiasm, having them all in trouble turning for home and bolting clear with the minimum of fuss. In receipt of 7lb and upwards from her rivals here, she will find life tougher in future, but has the option ofswitching to mares-only company and can surely be found a suitable opportunity to follow up.

Sakenos, fifth in a decent event at the course last month, held a good position throughout, but was unable to keep tabs on the winner and was made to look paceless back in second. He can probably win an ordinary novice event, but will not be seen at his best until contesting handicaps.

There was an 18-length gap back to the disappointing Inchloch. Rated 77 on the Flat, he appealed as the type to make a decent hurdler, but having raced keenly early on he was left trailing from half a mile outand failed to offer much encouragement for the future. It is entirely possible the run was needed however and he warrants another chance on a sounder surface. Very few of the remainder got involved and they were all left behind down the back.
