The drying ground suited him better than Penneyrose Bay, who also looked to unnerve herself when completely misjuding the second. She recovered her poise too late, but came home strongly and is sure to benefit most from this chasing debut.
Merriott's Oscar moved up looking a likely winner when landing too steeply over two out and stumbling. The way he rallied late on the run-in added to the impression that he wouldhave gone close.
Manx Royal could never quite get competitive and weakened from the home turn.
Depth Perception travelled strongly for a long way and looked a possible winner when blundering three out. It looked to knock the stuffing out of him as he was soon pulled up.
