It provided a very gutsy winner in the shape of COOMAKISTA, who registered her third consecutive success in this sphere, and was full value for her winning margin. Handy throughout, she kept pulling out more when asked by her rider, and was always holding the runner-up in the home straight. She is clearly versatile as regards underfoot conditions and evidently still improving.
Moonoki, a decent winner of a point 13 days previously, ran a brave race in second and finished nicely clear of the remainder. He failed to find just what looked likely when off the bridle, but this must rate an impressive debut in this sphere, and he still has plenty of time on his side.
The biggest disappointment of the race was Aintree Fox Hunter's second Christy Beamish, who was given is usual patient ride, but he lacked fluency over his fences and was well beaten when falling at the penultimate fence. He is no doubt going to need time to recover from this experience.Another to perform well below expectations was recent Huntingdon scorer Lord Bush who proved too free as a result of the sedate early gallop.
