ELVIS RETURNS, under a penalty for getting off the mark at Uttoxeter last time, followed-up with a clear-cut success despite yet again markedly idlingwhen hitting the front three from home. He is a most progressive young chaser, who has really found his form now, and he looks better the further he goes. It is hard to tell just how much he had up his sleeve at the finish, but he certainly appeals as the type to stay ahead of the Handicapper despite an inevitable hike in the weights, and a bold bid for the hat-trick should be expected.
The evergreen Mr Dow Jones jumped with aplomb throughout and showed the clear benefit of his return from a layoff at Newton Abbot 41 days previously. He is a very likeable performer and clearly retains his ability.
Tribal Venture showed slightly more signs of enthusiasm for this switch to a front-running role, but his fate was sealed with four to jump, and he continues to perform way below his previous best efforts.
Tommy Carson, 4lb out of the handicap, plugged on at his own pace and only seems to reserve his best for Plumpton.
Gumley Gale was still going as well as any when he collided with Tribal Venture going out onto the second circuit and took a heavy fall.
