A rapid pace brought plenty of carnage and a rapidly changing picture in the last mile with two fences on the last circuit omitted.

Christy Beamish looked assured of his hat-trick - sitting well off the pace and travelling smoothly. After effortlessly moving up to the leaders early on the last circuit, he was left ahead far too early, especially with what should have been the second-last by-passed to leave a long run to the last. Christy Beamish does not find much in front and so it proved as he breasted the last and found nil when shaken up as BRER BEAR bore down late.

He can recover losses when restrained longer, but Brer Bear deserves plenty of credit as he was outpaced and looking held down the back straight, but responded to his strong rider's urgings to finish strongly with the pair finishing well clear.

Student Night blundered his way round before rooting the fence that was omitted on the last circuit in exiting.
