DRAWBACK showed ability when fifth in a modest seven-furlong maiden at Wolverhampton on his debut 71 days previously, and stepped up on that effort switched to Fibresand. He proved awkward to load, and showed further signs of inexperience with a slow start, but he recovered well to hold every chance on the turn into the straight and had his mind very much made up for this by a determined Eddie Ahern.
He clearly possesses a fair amount of ability, and is worth his place in slightly better company, but he could just have a bit of maturing to do and is probably not one to take too short a price about.
Fangorn Forest, a beaten favourite in this grade on Polytrack on her past two starts, seemed to be showing the right attitude under pressure but just found one too good. Placed in Listed company on her second start as a juvenile, she is clearly not up to that level now, but looks up to scoring in this sort of company.
Outlook had to work hard to try and dominate and he basically seemed to be worried out of it in what was a competitive finish.
Rosthwaite was alikeable juvenile for Ed McMahon last season but was just a fair performer at best, and failed to pose a serious threat on her Fibresand debut. In her defence, she was short of room at the top of the straight and could be sharper for this first run in 97days.
