The progressive FYODOR was the clear form pick, having scored impressively here last month, with Rydal, Pawan and Dancing Mystery behind, and he did not look harshly treated off just a 6lb higher mark. He proved as much with another convincing win, and there is surely more to come from the gelding, who has nowwon three of his four starts on the all-weather.
Yomalo, badly outpaced as is often the case with her, ran on strongly from halfway but could never get in a blow at the winner. She really needs 6f to be seen to best effect, but even then needs things to drop just right for her.
Dancing Mystery, 6lb lower than when successful a year ago, was far from disgraced but the veteran is likely to find things a bit of a struggle against younger and more progressive rivals this season.
Magic Glade showed plenty of dash in first-time blinkers but had run his race by the furlong mark.
Quiet Times, second in a Class 4 race here last week, was the disappointment of the race and could never go the pace in this stronger company.
Jimmy Quinn reported that Rydal finished distressed.Paddy Mathers reported that Tartatartufata got outpaced and changed her legs.
