STAGECOACH OPAL didn't confirm his good debut run last time at Catterick, but bounced back under these softer conditions, though still looked green. It remains to be seen whether he will be good enough to win with a penalty.
The Gleaner, who was carrying 3lb overweight, did best of the newcomers and was clear of long-time leader Sydney Greenstreet and Doncaster fourth Sybarite Chief.
