JACKS CRAIC had only won a modest hurdle at Folkestone from 20 starts, but he had run well in second against decent sorts in novice chases on better ground on hislast two starts and looked on a decent mark if he handled the testing conditions. Held up as usual, he took a slight lead three out but was headed at the last and had to battle to nose ahead near the finish. He is in the Grand Annual, for which Coral make him a 33-1 chance, but a mark of around 130 has been required recently to get into the handicap there and he will still only be in the low 120s when reassessed.
Conditions would not have been to the liking of Joey Tribbiani, but he stayed on in the straight after getting a bit detached down the far side. Jurado Express, who was matching strides with the leader over the Railway fences, had no obvious excuse.
