No rain and the jockeys reported the ground to be very quick and, taking that into account, it was not a great surprise that BENTONG managed to break the course record for this six -urlong trip as he won in the style of a horse destined for better. Always up with the pace, he soon put daylight between himself and his rivals when asked. He was surprisingly beaten last time at Ripon and his trainer put that down to a poor draw rather than the soft ground.

However he seemed well suite by this quickerground and will have no problems getting another furlong on turf and a try over a mile was not ruled out. If he got that trip something like the Britannia at Royal Ascot may come into the equation but whatever happens he is one to keep on the right side.

Trafalgar Bay was taken to post early but came back well enough and he represents a solid guide to the overall form.

Gamble In Gold seems to need more cut in the ground and when getting that he could be seen in a better light.
