STRATEGIC PRINCE has plenty to live up to on breeding and connections brought him here to learn if he was a Coventry Stakes prospect. He is certainly bred to want at least that six furlongs so this win over five, showing good all-round pace, augurs well. He is also a very late foal and there looks sure to be plenty of improvement to come.
The first five finished in a heap but Longquan's form from his Windsor debut has been strongly franked, while Benllech has a progressive profile to suggest the form is probably above average.
Longquan was wanting to lug right when asked to go after the winner and was not helped by others edging left towards him. He looks certain to improve over further in time as he was only hitting top stride in the final 100yds.
Vital Statistics made a pleasing debut against the colts and should soon be winning.
Benllech ran as if crying out for another furlong as he tracked the leaders but was outpaced as the winner kicked on before he started to edge closer in the last 100yds.
Bahamian Love showed good pace but did not look happy on the ground under pressure, still running green and as such has run well enough to suggest a maiden win is on the cards.
Compton Fields gave them a good start but showed pace through the race, suggesting that with more time this late foal can step up on the bare form.
