SUNISA, who has enjoyed hurdling success for new connections, appreciated this extra stamina test and easier ground to grind out a narrow win in a race restricted to fillies and mares. As such she will struggle in open staying handicaps as the form does not look strong.
Maystock, dropping back in trip after her Saturday win, was helped by the strong pace but was still just found wanting for pace before rallying well in the final furlong. Running under her winner's penalty, she is actually 2lb lower in future but ease in the ground obviously suits and thereby hang her hopes through the summer.
Queen Of Iceni looked the likelier winner when looming up on the outside of the field into the final three furlongs and it was a shade disappointing that she could not convert that and even hold the runner-up who, like her, is embued with stamina.
Trompette was outpaced when the principals kicked but, switched right to get the rail into the final furlong, she was rallying strongly to suggest further will suit now despite her having won over ten furlongs in France.
