Speedy Sam, runner-up on his two runs last term, came to win his race but just could not get by the winner. Perhaps he just needed the run.
Ha'penny Beacon made up a lot of ground in the closing stages, though she never looked like getting to the winner. She will be better for the experience and it was an encouraging debut.
Find It Out plugged on at one pace on this seasonal return, but he should be better for the run and will be handicapped now.
