Augustine is a most consistent individual, and though he was never able to do enough to get at the winner, he kept plugging on to finish a clear second.
Speed Dial Harry was travelling as easily at the winner approaching the final two furlongs, but it looked as if a combination of the trip and the heavy grounddid for him. His turn will come again.
Auenmoon was probably a bit too keen for his own good on this ground, and having been taken on, he had no more to offer in the closing stages. But the dual-purpose type did enough to suggest he is capable ofwinning in this sort of company when he gets the run of the race.
Lucayan Dancer was never able to get in a blow and is better than this.
*Cool Hunter, Little Jimbob, Little Bob and Auenmoon were reported to have slipped on the bend and an inspection followed before racing was allowed to continue.
