Analyis of the race

Quite an interesting sprint in which seven of the 17 runners raced towards the far side, which is usually favoured when the ground is soft. However, with the runner-up racing stand side, there perhaps wasn't a significant draw bias.

ANTICA, who got off the mark with a wide-margin maiden win at Warwick on her final start last season, maintained the improvement she had shown there, coming late from off the pace to win going away. She ran off a mark of 82 here, and will go up at least to the high eighties now, but she's getting better with racing, and could be worth following.

Bentong, who won an AW maiden in December, ran a solid race on his turf debut coming out clear of the stand-side group. He's clearly handicapped about right, but is sure to improve on this and can find winning opportunities this time.

Rochdale travelled well stand side, and is another lightly-raced sort who should progress with racing this term.

Pauvic, fit from a busy AW season, wasn't disgraced, and as he goes particularly well on Polytrack, he may be seen to better advantage on faster ground.

Mango Magic is another lightly-raced sort who should progress with racing, and another of similar ilk, The Thrift Bear, showed up well on the far side for a long way and will come on for the run.
