Analyis of the race

A run-of-the-mill handicap, in which the runners congregated down the middle of the course.

DISPOL ISLE, who is racing-fit and who comes from a stable in form, was produced to win her race and then did so by the skin of her teeth as the fast-finishing runner-up came bearing down on her close home.

Grande Terre would almost surely have won in one more stride. She is better over further and, on this evidence, will not be long in going one better.

Sake made an encouraging start to the campaign, while Aperitif shaped well, despite the ground being arguably quicker than ideal for him, especially over a trip which he would find an absolute minimum.

Wayward Shot, who adopted his usual front-running role, may be more effective on a turning track.

Bond Playboy made a encouraging return to action after being restricted to only one outing last season, while Queen's Echo also shaped nicely.
