Namroc, who unseated his rider and ran loose before the start, ran well in defeat. He went down fighting and looks likely to go one better before too long.
There was a gap back to the rest, headed by Jubilee Street, who made an encouraging start to the season.
Nero's Return ran a fair race, Flipando looked on good terms with himself on his reappearance.
Mezuzah prefers softer ground, while Emerald Bay failed to build on his Musselburgh promise last time.
