Analyis of the race

A couple of no-hopers in the line-up and not a great pace but this was more competitive than many a lady riders' handicap with quite a few of the field in form, albeit one or two of them not being frequent winners. SILVERHAY was one of those, after just one success in his previous two dozen outings, but he did nothing wrong here, leading from 6f out and holding on in the straight under his capable partner.

Cormorant Wharf ran well considering the ground may just have been on the firm side for him, though he did not look an easy ride. Nor did Seattle Robber, who was pushed along from some way out but only made any impression in the final 2f and kept on late for third - he clearly needs things to go just right - a stronger gallop would have helped him.

The remainder were fairly comfortably held, with The Pen unable quite to confirm the promise of her Beverley win, though this was a stronger affair, and Viable a shade keen.
