An interesting handicap chase was won in good style by BALLYCASSIDY, who ran so well until he came down in the John Smith's Grand National. Travelling well up with the pace, he quickened clear after four out, and though he jumped left over the last couple of fences, he was never seriously threatened. This fast ground suits him well, and he'll be kept going during the summer with a race at Kelso, which he won last year, his next objective.

Martha's Kinsman kept on for pressure, having come offthe bridle nearly a mile from home, but he never looked like pegging back the winner. Scots Grey has never won at this trip, but didn't appear to fail through lack of stamina, but he just couldn't quicken from four out.
