The faster ground didn't seem any problem to him and, after being given a patient ride, he led 2 out, was left six lengths clear at the last, and was driven out to score.
He's rated 143, but is is a progressive sort and may be able to make his mark in the better 2m handicaps next term.
Portavadie, rated 16lb inferior to the winner, ran a decent race until he came down. He set a good clip and was jumping well but tired from the home turn, hit 2 out hard and was 2l down and held when he fell at the last.
He was rated 141 over hurdles, but hasn't achieved the same level of form over fences and his future will depend on how the handicapper treats him.
The Biker faced a stiff task on his chase debut, and though he never got into it, he wasn't disgraced and will find easier opportunities.
