SOLVA had shown only fair form at two but promised to improve over middle-distances this term and duly did do, leading inside the final furlong.
A stronger pace might have helped Captain Margaret, who kept on to take second close home but could not find the pace to threaten the winner. She nonetheless showed she remains in form, despite a busy spring.
Wagtail had looked promising in her successful debut on the all-weather six weeks earlier but looked to have little excuse here, racing keenly and soon prominent, leading over two furlongs out until inside the final furlong.
The reappearing Michaels Pride had the run of the race in front but could not reproduce the best of the fairly useful form she had shown last season.
Lysandra stumbled after two furlongs and could never get competitive on her first run of the year.
