This looked a hot contest with some of these having contested Group and Listed contests and, the easy winner aside, there was nothing between the two packs.
INGLEBY ARCH was one such, although well beaten by the likes of City of Troy, Free Handicap winner Misu Bond and Nakheel. Soft ground over a mile probably counted against him when well behind Nakheel, and the Two-Year-Old Trophy run suggested he was not harshly handicapped on a mark of 87. He beat two race-fit rivals as well.
That rating will be long gone after this romp and connections reported he has strengthened up well over the winter. He certainly looks the part and could carry a big weight in another handicap, although it would be no surprise to see him add a Listed contest later this summer.
Angus Newz, a similar sort to the winner on form through a collateral line involving Gallery Girl, could not give away the 6lb but ran another sound race. The habitual front-runner was exuberant in front but had the stands' rail and kept on well. She was considered advantaged by having the rail last time but has again shown she is progressing, although worryingly towards that ratings twilight zone which will make her hard to place.
Grimes Faith was a shade unlucky as he had nowhere to go behind the runner-up for over a furlong before getting out inside the final furlong. He had time to grab second, but is another edging up the handicap.
Adeje Park has yet to come in her coat and looked as if the race would do her good. As such she has run a fine comeback and can be placed to advantage, and is another who might enjoy another furlong this year.
Scarlet Knight became badly outpaced mid-race and did exceptionally well to stay on strongly when getting the stands' rail late on. He does not look particularly well handicapped but has form on softer ground.
High Curragh helped set the pace stands' side before weakening, suggesting that even though this was his first run in 170 days, five furlongs may prove best.
Hogmaneigh could never land a blow but was another seasonal debutant who shaped with promise in a strong contest.
Puskas looked uneasy on the ground, despite having won on a similar surface last season, and he finished further back than looked likely as he hung badly going to the final furlong.
Sleeping Storm was not helped by those antics and can be rated better than the bare form, having shown good speed.
Qusoor ran a shade better than the bare form, as she made a promising move entering the final two furlongs but was not given a hard time when beaten.(BJ)
