Dimboola's Leicester second set a reasonable standard, but EXCELLENT ART was simply too good for him. The early pace apparently wasn't fast enough for him, so Frankie Dettori soon moved him up to press Dimboola for the lead. He didn't go on until inside the final furlong, but Dettori never had to pick up his stick and he drew clear. He will be stepped up to six furlongs next time and connections hope he is Coventry Stakes material.
Dimboola broke well and put his experience to good use, but he was outpointed in the final furlong by a colt who may well prove above average. He should soon be off the mark.
King's Bastion, his stable's first juvenile runner, showed early speed on the rail and ought to come on for this.
As One Does was very weak in the market and should improve.
Pietersen swerved badly right leaving the stalls but soon recovered.(GD)
