Melee, last of four on firm ground back in August on her only previous outing, was without the tongue-strap she wore that day. After being hampered against the fence leaving the back straight, she had five in front of her on straightening up but ran on quite nicely to take second. A small race should come her way on this surface.
Height Of Spirits made the frame for the first time in 13 starts. He has a bit of pace and the drop down in trip obviously helped.
The disappointment of the race was Duxford, who was rather keen early on before dropping out of contention pretty tamely when brought under pressure. This was not his running.
Irish raider Mary Anastatia, the pick on official figures, disputed the lead with the eventual third before weakening inside the last. She might have needed this first run since May.
