A poor race in which seven of the ten runners were sporting headgear of differing types.

WHENWILLITWIN produced a strong late run to get up close home and deny Competitor completing the double. Sent off at big odds, he stepped up on some recent modest efforts, including a couple of comprehensive defeats in banded company, to record his first success on his tenth start.

Competitor went down all guns blazing, and was only a short head away from supplementing his recent course and distance success when accounting for a subsequent winner. He was without the tongue-tie he wore that day but didn't seem unduly effected by that and in pulling two lengths clear of the third, he probably ran at least as well here.
