There was not a lot of previous form to go on in this mares' contest, and the race fell to a hurdling debutante NEVSKY BRIDGE, whom connections had claimed out of a maiden claimer on the Flat; something they did with Calomeria last season. She was value for much more than the official distance and looks capable of winning more races against her own sex.

Sonnengold was making her hurdling debut after six months off and overcame an early error to chase home the winner, but the margin of defeat flatters her.

Anna Panna is progressing steadily with experience over hurdles and will be interesting once switched to handicaps, while Winter Coral had not shown much in previous outings and tends to limit the form.

Alaskan Fizz, the only previous winner, had not run since May but could have been expected to do better than this.
