While others were buzzed up by the false start, Obrigado settled well at the back as the lit-up Skidmark took on South O'The Border which took them fully five lengths clear of the pack.
Obrigado was trying this longer trip for the first time and passed with flying colours, making rapid headway around the home turn and powering home, although it was made to look that bit better as South O'The Border was gasping through the final furlong paying for early exertions.
Nice Tune did not look anywhere near as happy going right-handed here after her good efforts on the "conventional" all-weather. Don't assume the handicapper has caught up with her and a return to a left-handed track could see her in a better light.
Gingko could never get competitive but Secretary General had excuses. He was travelling well ahead of the principals when left nowhere to go when Skidmark gave up the ghost around the inner loop back to the straight. He had to be sharply reined in and could not recover, although he was going on again in the final furlong to suggest a clear run would have seen him involved in the finish.
Danelor was reported to have bled from the nose.
Hayyani was reported to have run flat while Secretary General was reported to have suffered interference in running.
