A hot little conditions sprint, in which reformed character BORDER MUSIC was by no means best in. Having raced keenly on the heels of front runner Peace Offering he was sent on approaching the furlong marker then did nothing in front and needed keeping right up to his work. Effective too over seven furlongs, and also successful from the front, he has looked a different horse since returning to the all-weather compared to the one who threw away so many good chances on turf, and his record on this surface now reads six wins from eight starts. That's not to say he won't be interesting back on turf, though, especially as he has a mark around 20lb lower, but Andrew Balding, who plans to take him back to Lingfield next weekend, reckons he has to have a turning track, which will limit his opportunities. He might go to the States later on this year.

Presto Shinko had just about the best of the weights, having enjoyed six wins in a superb 2005. He ran a bit better than the bare facts suggest, as having been held up in rear he was still last approaching the furlong marker. He picked up when asked to improve, but the winner had a couple of lengths start on him.

Indian Trail was making his debut for a new stable. He looked useful when winning first time out last year at Newmarket, and he is another that will no doubt be placed successfully in due course.
