PRIME RECREATION fitted the bill on both counts, but while he has slipped a long way down the ratings to his current 45 he has lost none of his speed.
Breaking fast and soon crossing over from what looked an unfavourable draw (doing others, notably College Queen, no favours in the process), he showed terrific pace to race clear throughout and never look in serious danger. He has always favoured a right-hand rail, so the advent of this new right-handed AW track has been a godsend. He is going to enjoy racing here and can win again.
Forest Dane was soon poorly placed and had only one behind him rounding the turn. Once into the straight he made up a lot of ground on the inside, and he was going on well at the finish.
This trip is on the sharp side these days for Double M, but he had a good draw and was enjoying a drop in class. He ran close to his current level in third, ahead of maiden Beverley Beau, who has been handy in the chasing group throughout but was extending his losing run to 31 starts.
Leah's Pride, back with Denise McHale, led the chasing group but was never on terms with the winner and lost three places inside the final furlong.
Davids Mark was running on when he ran out of room near the finish.
