Cloann and Monday's Lingfield winner Christmas Truce forced a fast pace and ended up well beaten.
AUENTRAUM came here on a hat-trick, after two 6f wins at Wolverhampton, but he has hadall sorts of problems and while connections reckoned he would enjoy this surface, which they reckon is slower, there was a question mark over his ability to see out the extra furlong. Held up on the rail on the heels of the leaders, having been ideally drawn, he was clearly going as well as any when they straightened up but his rider was keen to hang on to him. Easing to the front at around the furlong pole, he went half a length up but only just lasted home.
Maiden Luciferous was running on well at the end in the first-time visor, as was Abbeygate who had run creditably in a 10f handicap on his latest start and found this much shorter trip too sharp. The latter pair were divided by Gaudalpin, who had chased the two pacesetters and didn't do badly in the circumstances.
