Ally Shrimp, who had shown promise in two bumpers, was pushed along and outpaced at the second hurdle, but he stayed on nicely through the final mile and shaped like a real stayer. He comes from a stable who know how to make the best of all opportunities.
Springaway chased the leaders, but was on the retreat when a mistake three out ended his chance. He will do better in handicaps, but Serbelloni was outpaced from two out. His Flat form suggested the step up in trip should have been no problem and he has been disappointing since making a successful hurdling debut on this track in December.
