Dual bumper winner Arctic Echo won't be long in winning over hurdles on this showing, but the one to take out of the race is the newcomer Glingerbank, who was behind and hampered at the second and ran green throughout. He got reminders at the third and at various points afterwards but suddenly picked up to sweep through and join the leaders approaching the second-last. He looked a big danger at the last but could find no extra on the climb to the line.
Easby Mandarin was still in with a chance when blundering badly at the last, while Rothbury made ground to tag on to the heels of the leaders turning for home but was comprehensively outpointed after crossing the second-last.
