Chief Dan George ran a fair race, but was unable to get to grips with the progressive winner.
The remainder were well strung out, with Tobesure, now in his dotage, finishing fourth, one place ahead of Sotovik.
None of the remainder ran well enough to suggest they will be winning in similar company under these conditions in the short-term.
