Natiain ruined his chances by some sloppy jumping and it took some superior horsemanship from Pauline Robson to keep the partnership intact after two serious mistakes.
High Expectations ran a fair race in third, but was comfortably outpointed late on.
Sadly, Just Barney Boy, winner of his last three starts in points, collapsed and died in front of the stands after being pulled-up and dismounted on the run-in.
