A cracking finish between MAKE MY HAY and Tech Eagle, who came clear of the third in a lowly handicap hurdle. Beaten only by the in-form The Hairy Lemon at Warwick on his reappearance, Make My Hay has been searching for that elusive first win, but he looked set to come off second-best for much of the straight, with Tech Eagle seemingly going just the better, but he pulled it out after the last and just shaded it. A tough individual who goes particularly well for Richard Johnson, he will need to improve again to defy a further rise, but that is not out of the question.

Handicap newcomer Tech Eagle made smooth headway to stalk the winner turning in and took a narrow lead jumping two out, but he did not find as much as had looked likely and was claimed on the line. His stable has gone a long time without a winner, but it will be disappointing if this scopey type cannot be found a race sooner rather than later.

Upright Ima is still seeking her first win and, although running well in third,failed to do enough to suggest she is about to strike. A drop into selling company may be the answer.

Smoothly Does It, another making his handicap debut, did not shape without promise, but was unable to bridge the gap on Tech Eagle, whom he finished behind at Newbury last time. He may improve with further experience, but needs to.

Shaamit The Vaamit gave a bold sighter in front, but he was readily brushed aside andfailed to build on his recent Wincanton second, while favourite North Lodge found the ease in the ground against him and can be given another chance back on a sound surface.
