Devalued by withdrawals, this was just a fair race of its type. The pace was reasonable. APOLLO LADY made a winning debut over course and distance on Boxing Day and followed up under her penalty. She momentarily looked in trouble when pushed along towards the end of the back straight, but soon came back on the bridle and, wearing down the leader with a furlong and a half to run, she went on to score a shade readily. She is a promising mare who should get further when going over hurdles, but she mightbe vulnerable if turned out under a double penalty in a bumper.

True Dove, out of a winning hurdler, stayed on nicely to chase home the favourite. She ought to benefit from the run and looks up to winning a similar race.

Itsy Bitsy, upped in trip from her debut, was only seventh turning for home, but she stayed on quite nicely.

Ma Burls was the reluctant early leader before tracking the eventual third. She looked in need of this first run since her inauspicious debut in May andher new yard will be pleased with the way she stuck on to finish fifth.
