AMERICAN PRESIDENT, the horse who set that slow gallop, was given a perfect waiting-in-front ride by Russ Garrity, and was not hard pressed to win after always being in the ideal position. Some of his form, including a third to Reveillez last year, showed him to be well capable of winning this poor heat, but he is now a ten-year-old and could find it hard to defya penalty in a better contest.
Hush Tiger was outpaced on the run to the second-last flight, but to his credit found a bit more on the final climb. He once again showed himself to be a less-than-fluent jumper, but he might do better if stepped upto two and a half miles.
